Product Safety & Use - NAVA Ring

This reference guide covers: best practices and key information to keep in mind while using your NAVA Ring, safety information, and product specifications.

General Use

  • The NAVA Ring is designed for 24/7 wear and all-day comfort.
  • We do not recommend wearing the ring adjacent to other rings, as this may cause scratches or discomfort.
  • For best protection, wear the ring on your non-dominant hand to minimize friction with surfaces and objects.
  • The NAVA Ring is water resistant up to 50m (164.04ft). It is safe for swimming and snorkeling, but we do not recommend scuba diving or prolonged submersion (12+ hours).
  • Operating temperature range: -10°C – 52°C / 14°F – 125°F. Safe for use in saunas, hot tubs, ice baths, and cryotherapy sessions.
  • The seamless inner surface is hypoallergenic and medical-grade.
  • Data is transmitted securely with end-to-end encryption between the ring and the NAVA Ring App.
  • If you retire your ring, perform a factory reset before passing it on. Otherwise, recycle responsibly in accordance with local e-waste regulations.

Memory Capacity
The NAVA Ring can store up to 7 days of data without syncing. For best results, sync daily with the NAVA Ring App.

Battery & Charging

  • Battery: Rechargeable LiPo battery (15mAh–22mAh depending on ring size), non-replaceable.
  • Battery Life: 4–7 days on a full charge (varies by use and size).
  • Charging Time: 10–90 minutes depending on charge level.
  • Charging Method: USB-C dock (included in box).
  • Safe Charging:
    • Charge only when the ring is dry.
    • If the ring overheats during charging, disconnect immediately.
    • Use only the official NAVA charger and cable.
    • Power source must be 5Vdc, IEC 62368-1 compliant, not exceeding 15W after 3 seconds.
    • Do not charge in humid environments (e.g., bathrooms).
  • Storage: If not in use for long periods, store with ~70% charge and recharge periodically.
  • Disposal: Dispose of the ring, charger, and battery according to local electronic waste guidelines.

Care & Maintenance

  • Clean the ring with mild soap and water, then dry fully before wearing again.
  • Hand sanitizer is safe for use.
  • For deep cleaning, remove the ring during heavy handwashing and wash separately.
  • Avoid wearing during strength training, shoveling, or handling heavy objects made of stone, ceramics, or metal.
  • Avoid stacking with other rings or metallic objects.
  • Do not expose to direct heat for extended periods.
  • Do not puncture or attempt to open the ring.

Safety Information
Important Safety Instructions

  • Do not disassemble the ring.
  • The built-in battery is non-replaceable.
  • Avoid using corrosive cleaning agents.
  • Do not place the ring in a dishwasher, washing machine, or dryer.
  • Avoid exposing the ring to fire, extreme heat, or prolonged direct sunlight.
  • Stop using if the ring is damaged, bent, or structurally compromised.
  • Keep out of reach of children — choking hazard.

Health & Medical Warnings

  • Consult your doctor before use if you have existing health conditions (e.g., poor circulation, heart issues, abrasions).
  • If you have allergies or skin sensitivity, discontinue use if redness or irritation occurs.
  • Consult a doctor before use if:
    • You have epilepsy or light sensitivity.
    • You take medications causing photosensitivity.
  • Pregnant women and users with medical implants should consult a physician before use.
  • Ensure the ring fits snugly but not tightly enough to restrict blood flow.

App Usage

  • Do not interact with the NAVA Ring App while driving or in situations requiring full concentration.

Additional Safety Notes

  • The NAVA Ring uses infrared, red, and green LEDs — these are safe and non-hazardous.
  • Do not handle external batteries or machinery with exposed cathodes/anodes while wearing the ring, as it may cause a short circuit (like any metallic ring).
  • Be cautious when moving heavy objects, as rings can catch on fixed structures.

Emergency Situations

  • If the ring gets stuck on your finger, use cold water and soap to lubricate, raise your hand above heart level, or seek medical help if removal is not possible.

EMF & Wireless Safety

  • The NAVA Ring is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) device. Bluetooth is active for less than 1% of daily use.
  • During sync and firmware updates, data transmission is continuous.
  • SAR (Specific Absorption Rate): Limit is 2.0 W/kg. NAVA Ring measures only 0.0004 W/kg, well below international safety thresholds.
