Caring for Your NAVA Ring
In this guide, we outline the key practices for taking care of your NAVA Ring and using the NAVA Ring App to maximize the device’s durability and ensure you get the most out of wearing NAVA over the long term.
General Use
Clean Your Sensors
To maintain accurate readings, we recommend cleaning the ring’s sensors — including the PPG LEDs, temperature sensor, and ECG electrodes — roughly once a week.
- For the PPG and temperature sensors located on the inside of the ring: you can gently wipe them with the inside of your shirt or a clean piece of cloth. Alternatively, rinse your ring with a small amount of mild dish soap and lukewarm water.
- For the ECG electrodes (the two side contacts and the flat rectangular sensor on the surface): clean them with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove any sweat, skin oils, or dust. Avoid using abrasive materials, as these could scratch the metallic finish.
This simple routine removes dirt or residue that might interfere with signal quality between the ring and your skin, ensuring precise monitoring of heart rate, HRV, temperature, and ECG.
Avoid Extended Exposure to Extreme Temperatures
The NAVA Ring is designed to operate within a safe temperature range of 14°F – 129°F / -10°C – 54°C. You can comfortably wear your ring in hot tubs, saunas, cold plunges, or cryotherapy sessions. However, extended exposure to extreme cold (below 32°F / 0°C) or extreme heat (above 95°F / 35°C) may accelerate battery wear and reduce long-term performance.
Tips for Scratch Prevention
- Wear your NAVA Ring on your non-dominant hand to minimize daily contact with hard surfaces.
- Do not stack other rings directly above, below, or next to your NAVA Ring, as this may cause scratches due to friction.
- Consider removing the ring in activities with high surface friction (such as weightlifting) or when handling cookware and objects made of metal, stone, or ceramics.
Battery & Charging
The Optimal Battery Range
For best results, try to maintain your NAVA Ring’s battery above 30%. A good way to build this habit is to keep the charger nearby and charge the ring briefly each day. Many users find it convenient to charge during short breaks — while typing on a computer, showering, washing dishes, or cooking — when they might naturally take off the ring anyway.
Keep in mind that all rechargeable batteries are consumables, meaning their capacity and performance will gradually decline over time. Keeping the battery consistently above 30% helps minimize this deterioration and prolong battery life.
Avoid Undercharging and Overcharging
- Try to avoid letting your battery drain completely to 0%. You can enable low-battery notifications in the NAVA Ring App to prevent this.
- If you plan on not wearing your ring for some time, switch it to Power Saving Mode before storage.
- Do not leave the ring sitting on the charger continuously for longer than one week, as this can stress the battery.
Use the Proper Power Source
The included USB-C charging dock and cable should be powered by a 5V external supply that complies with IEC 62368-1 safety standards. The available power should not exceed 15W after 3 seconds of connection. Following these guidelines will protect your ring’s battery and prevent premature degradation.
Connectivity & Updates
Connect to Only One Device at a Time
Your NAVA Ring should only be connected to a single device (such as your smartphone). If you start using a new phone, follow the in-app transfer process in the NAVA Ring App to safely move your data without losing history.
Keep Your Software and Firmware Updated
The NAVA Ring App will notify you whenever new updates are available for both the app and the ring’s firmware. We strongly recommend updating to the latest versions to ensure optimal performance, new features, and the highest accuracy in tracking your health metrics.
